We believe.

Purposeful living, love, respect, diversity & beauty.

J-centrel is home to community-driven residents and businesses who strive to make their neighborhood, Philadelphia, and society better. Our Good Neighbor program offers up to $100 off the monthly rent for J-centrel residents who work for or volunteer with our neighborhood partner organizations. It’s a give forward model that rewards residents for doing good in their neighborhood.

The Benefits

Grow your savings.

Residents who participate in the Good Neighbor program receive a rent credit based on the number of hours volunteered per month. These savings are credited monthly to the apartment unit as a whole. Monthly hours max out at 4 hours and the discount maxes out at $100.

Connect with neighbors.

Building a strong bond with your neighbors and the community is essential to establishing unity and lasting relationships. This could be mentoring local students, joining a local civic association, volunteering with or even being an employee at one of our partner organizations.

HOW IT WORKS

Find an organization to partner with.

We’ve compiled a list of verified and trusted community partners based and focused in the Kensington-Harrowgate neighborhood. Find the list here.

Show up and serve.

Though we support our tenants efforts to find organizations that best align with their interests and availability. We entrust tenants to identify specific events and times at which they can be of service.

Log your hours.

Hours are logged via the form shared with you via email once you’ve opted in to the Good Neighbor Program. Hours are NOT retroactive and must be logged before the end of the month for which hours apply. i.e. If you volunteer in August your hours must be logged in August to count towards your rent credit.

Repeat the process.

Once your hours are reviewed by Property Management your rent credit will be applied for the rent of the following month. i.e. If you volunteer in August and log your hours accordingly your rent credit will be applied to your ledger for the month of September.

The Good Neighbor program is powered by partnership.

Partner organizations include local non-profit and community-serving organizations focused on youth development, arts, education, and health, as well as schools, and community action organizations. All in service to Philadelphia’s Harrowgate and Kensington communities.
