J-centrel is located on a re-energized section of Kensington Avenue along the Market-Frankford El corridor in the Philadelphia neighborhoods of Harrowgate and Kensington. Our neighborhood is home to a beloved local cafe– Caphê Roasters, an established bakery– Pound Cake Heaven, and MaKen Studios. Being a part of this community means being a part of the future of Kensington Avenue, while also honoring the rich history and people who helped to shape it.

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, J-centrel blends historic architecture and cultural cues to weave forward-thinking work, living, and community spaces into the neighborhood’s fabric. J-centrel is one of Philadelphia’s and Kensington Avenue’s storied factories, dating back to the late 1800s. It once stood as a leading mill during Kensington’s textile boom. After decades as a textile mill, lighting producer, and, more recently, a furniture manufacturer, J-centrel has been transformed into modern, affordable residences and commercial spaces and studios. that evoke a sense of history, culture and style.

Hop on the Tioga El subway stop, only one block away, for a quick trip to Center City in 15 minutes.
